Tamil Nadu captain R Sai Kishore is determined for his team to play a positive brand of cricket as they prepare for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. The team, who reached the semi-finals last season, will kick off their campaign against Saurashtra on October 11.

Sai Kishore emphasized that the team’s preparations have been solid and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver strong performances in the domestic season. With six Tamil Nadu players having featured in the Duleep Trophy, the captain acknowledged the high expectations but stated that the team will remain focused on their tasks without feeling any undue pressure.

Learning from Past Experiences

Reflecting on his captaincy, Sai Kishore admitted that while the leadership aspect of managing players has come naturally to him, he still has much to learn on the tactical front.

Last season, some of his decisions were questioned, notably in the semi-final against Mumbai, where he chose to bat first on a seam-friendly pitch after winning the toss. The decision ultimately didn’t work in Tamil Nadu’s favor. However, Sai Kishore explained that he has worked on improving his tactical skills, having sought advice from experienced captains ahead of the new season.

Focus on Team Growth

Sai Kishore remains focused on continuous growth, both for himself as a captain and for the team. He emphasized that while there are external and internal expectations, the team will not let these weigh them down. Instead, they will focus on their own performance and play to their strengths.

With a balanced squad that includes key players from the Duleep Trophy, Tamil Nadu looks to build on last season’s success and aim for a positive start to their campaign. Apart from Saurashtra, Tamil Nadu will face teams like Assam, Delhi, and Jharkhand in the group stage of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.
