Former India World Cup-winning skipper and currently one of the three members of the Cricket Advisory Committee, Kapil Dev is of the opinion that Team India skipper Virat Kohli’s opinion needs to be respected. Recently Virat Kohli had made it pretty clear that he will want Ravi Shastri to continue at least till the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Despite respecting Kohli’s decision, Kapil Dev firmly stated that his panel will select the coach to the best of their abilities. “That”s his (Kohli) opinion we have to respect everybody”s opinion,” Kapil told reporters before receiving the “Bharat Gaurav”, East Bengal”s highest honour during their foundation day celebrations at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.
Before leaving for the T20I series against West Indies, Kohli clearly mentioned that he and the team shares a great camaraderie with Ravi Shastri and wants him to continue as the head coach atleast till the 2021 T20 World Cup.
The CAC comprises of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy who will select the head coach. The application deadline ended on Tuesday. In all likelihood, the three members will select Ravi Shastri who has been the head coach of the Indian team for the last two years.

Before leaving for the West Indies tour, the Indian skipper has already made it clear that they share a great camaraderie with incumbent coach Ravi Shastri as he backed him to continue till the 2021 T20 World Cup.
“It”s not tough. You just do your job to the best of your ability,” Kapil Dev said. Kapil received the honour from East Bengal Club where he played an exhibition derby against Mohun Bagan. East Bengal honoured Kapil Dev as they started their centenary year celebrations with several cultural programmes.
“Tradition is everything. If tradition was not there we would not have been recognised as a Bengali, Punjabi, South Indian, Tamilian… So we have a tradition that”s why we are here,” Kapil said, flanked by present and former India football skippers Sunil Chhetri and Bhaichung Bhutia.

“We respect Wimbledon because they have a traditional way of playing on grass. Don”t lose your tradition whichever side you come from. I am more fascinated with the fans than the team as they have been supporting the club for 100 years.”
