Nitish Rana, a batter with the Kolkata Knight Riders, revealed a screenshot of a text message that Gautam Gambhir sent him after he was named KKR’s IPL 2024 mentor. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26, the Knight Riders captured the Indian Premier League for the third time, defeating the Pat Cummins-led SRH by an innings and eight wickets.

To win the IPL 2024, they crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first qualifying round and again in the championship game. Vice-captain of KKR Nitish Rana spoke about Gautam Gambhir’s contribution to the team’s triumph following the match.

“I want to share one short story: when GG Bhaiya was named the mentor, I sent him a long message, as I was really happy. But he replied, saying, “Thank you but I would be happy if we stood at the podium with the trophy in our hands.” Today is that day and I will never forget that message,” Rana had said after the win.

Nitish Rana writes a heartfelt message for Gautam Gambhir:

When Gambhir’s comeback to KKR was announced in September of last year, Nitish Rana and many others were ecstatic. Rana had mentioned his conversation with Gautam Gambhir after KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in Sunday’s IPL 2024 final.

However, on Tuesday, the former captain of the Knight Riders took a screenshot of GG’s text and posted it on all of his social media accounts for everyone to see.

“Thanks Nitish for the msg. This means a lot. Let’s create sumthing (something) special. There is no better feeling in sport to stand on a podium and win a trophy. Let’s experience thtt (that),” Gambhir’s message read as posted by Rana.

Rana published the screenshot, stating that the Knight Riders intend to acquire the ‘GG Mentality’. The left-handed batter stated, “In this era of Mamba Mentality, we’re soon all going to embrace the GG Mentality too.”
The Knights cruised to victory in the final, bowling SRH out for 113 in 18.3 overs. They then tracked down the target with 57 balls remaining in their innings.
