Team India defeated South Africa by 61 runs in the first T20I at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday, November 8. Asked to bat by the Proteas, India posted a total of 202/8 in their 20 overs. In response, South Africa was bowled out for 141 in 17.5 overs.
Sanju Samson played a brilliant knock, scoring 107 off just 50 balls. The right-hander struck seven fours and 10 sixes, marking his second consecutive T20I century. He had scored 111 off 47 balls in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad last month.
Samson’s century powered India to a strong total, and in the chase, leg-spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi each took three wickets to restrict South Africa. Pacer Avesh Khan also contributed with two wickets. For the Proteas, Heinrich Klaasen was the top scorer with 25, while Gerald Coetzee made a quickfire 23 off 11 balls.
India vs South Africa 2024 2nd T20I: Date and Time in IST
The second T20I of the series between India and South Africa will take place at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Sunday, November 10. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST and 4:00 PM local time. While India will aim to build on their victory in Durban, South Africa will need to regroup and make a strong comeback.

Team India and South Africa have faced off once at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, during India’s previous tour to South Africa in December 2023. The match was won by the Proteas by five wickets (DLS method).
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, South Africa restricted India to 180/7, with Gerald Coetzee leading the charge with figures of 3/32, while Tabraiz Shamsi bowled economically, taking 1/18.
For India, Rinku Singh played a knock of 68* off 39 balls, and Suryakumar Yadav contributed 56 off 36. Chasing a revised target of 152 in 15 overs, South Africa reached the target with the help of Reeza Hendricks (49 off 27) and Aiden Markram (30 off 17).

Returning to the current series, after the second T20I in Gqeberha, the third match will take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion on November 13. The series will conclude with the fourth and final T20I at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 15.
