In an amazing interview, Ravi Ashwin got his wife Preethi to speak about, himself, his cricketing journey, his marriage as well as his children before the second Test against Sri Lanka at SSC Colombo. The interview was conducted on behalf of BCCI. The off spinner who is known for his magic with the ball bowled some carom balls in the interview but his wife Preethi managed to play them pretty well.
Ravi Ashwin made his debut against West Indies at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on 6 November 2011. A week later on 13 November, he got married. Though Ravi Ashwin is in his 51st test match, it is his 50th after marriage. On being asked who was his first test wicket, Preeti hesitantly said, “It was against West Indies! Bravo!” and later went on to clarify it was Darren Bravo. Ashwin had knocked over Darren Bravo to pick up his first test wicket. She was not able to answer his 200th Test wicket but got 250thcorrect. Preethi talked about her experience in Galle. During the course of the first test, she climbed up to the Galle fort to get a view of proceedings from over there and found it mesmerizing. She went on to rate Galle as one of her Top 5 test venues. She rated Dharamshala as the most picturesque ground, MCG as second and Wellington as next best because of the grass banks.
Talking about her favorite format of the game, she said she prefers tests over Ltd. Over formats, simply because of the steady pace of the game unlike the rush in ODIS and T20IS. Also, she gets to watch Ashwin bowl more.
She also shared a memory from 2015 WC. She was six months pregnant during 2015 world cup. They got a special scan was done which showed all the little details of the baby. She was relieved to find out that her daughter doesn’t have a nose like Ravi!
Ashwin has been India’s mainstay with the ball in last 2 years. He is currently the best off spinner in world cricket at the moment.
