Vijeta Pendharkar is a surgeon by profession and the wife of Rahul Dravid. She was born into a family of Air Force Wing Commanders and spent her early years moving around a lot. However, the family moved to Nagpur not long after her father retired.
She completed her education at Delhi’s Bal Bharati School. She then registered in Nagpur’s Shri Shivaji Science College. Vijeta soon after finished her Intermediate Science program to pursue a career in MBBS. She enrolled in Government Medical College in Nagpur, where she later finished her post-graduation training in surgery in 2002.
As a surgeon, Vijeta was totally engrossed in the fields of science and medicine and was ignorant of both cricket and sports news. Dravid claimed that his wife’s ignorance of what was happening on the field was of great assistance to him.
Rahul Dravid’s wife gave up her career a few years after they were married in order to support their family. Since cricket kept Dravid away most of the time, she assumed parenting duties for their children.

Rahul Dravid and Vijeta Pendharkar received their first child, a son they named Samit Dravid, two years after Rahul and Vijeta’s 2003 marriage. Anvay Dravid was the name Dravid gave to his second son, born in 2009, four years later.
