The second T20I between India and West Indies is all set to take place on Monday, August 1 at Warner Park in St Kitts. India registered a comprehensive victory in the first match by eight wickets. They are one up in the five-match T20I series. Heading into the second game, the Rohit Sharma-led team will be riding high on confidence. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has made his predictions about India’s playing XI for the match.
In a video on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra expressed that India will have a selection dilemma for the game. He stated that India will have to make changes in their team, as the wicket at Warner Park will suit the pacers more. Speaking about India’s probable XI, Aakash Chopra said,
“Some big questions are already there for the Indian team. In the last match, I think India read the conditions better, so they went in with three spinners and they did a good job as well. Some changes will have to be done in the team because there is more assistance for fast bowlers here.”
In a surprising move, right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav opened the innings for India in the first T20I. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Sanju Samson is also in the team, and if he plays, Suryakumar Yadav has to bat lower down the order.
“Surya is not your opener. I am thinking the team might just go with Suryakumar Yadav one more time but don’t be too surprised if you see Sanju Samson opening. If Surya opens, then the same batting order. Shreyas might have to go out if Sanju opens,” said Aakash Chopra.
I feel the team will play Ravichandran Ashwin: Aakash Chopra
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra discussed India’s bowling attack for the second T20I. He feels it will be a tough call for India to select one between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi. The cricketer-turned-commentator further picked Harshal Patel as the third seamer with Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Aakash Chopra said,
“All three spinners bowled well in the last match, so who will you leave out – Bishnoi or Ashwin? Ashwin dismisses Pooran and Hetmyer. If there are left-handers, you want to play him, but is he going to be there in your World Cup squad? I feel the team will play Ashwin but I think you can play Ravi Bishnoi as well.”
Aakash Chopra’s probable Indian XI for the 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer/Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin/Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel
