Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja lauded Virat Kohli’s one-handed stunning catch during the first ODI against West Indies on Thursday, July 27 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Kohli’s brilliant effort off Jadeja’s bowling sent Romario Shepherd back to the pavilion, pushing West Indies on the back foot.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled a full delivery outside off-stump. Romario Shepherd got a thick outside edge on the ball, as he tried to play a drive. The ball went to low and to the right of Virat Kohli at first slip. Kohli managed to take an absolutely stunning catch. Talking about the dismissal, Ravindra Jadeja lauded Kohli’s effort.
“I felt good… Generally, I take such catches on other’s bowling and when someone takes a good catch in my bowling, it felt good. It was a very good catch, he had to take it low and it was a sharp catch,” said Jadeja in conversation with Kuldeep Yadav in a video shared by the BCCI.
“He did not get a lot of time. The batter went for a drive and he had less than a second to react. I would say it was a very very good catch. Shubman Gill also took a nice catch. It was also a low catch. On wickets like these, only when the bowlers get the support of the fielders, their confidence will be boosted. These half-chances should be converted into wickets, then only the bowlers will feel confident,” he added.

Me and Ravindra Jadeja were brilliant: Kuldeep Yadav
Team India spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a brilliant bowling performance, as West Indies was bowled out for a paltry 114 runs. Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match award for 4/6 in three overs. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets in the match. India won the first ODI by five wickets, chasing down the target in 23 overs.
Talking about the bowling performance, Kuldeep Yadav said at the post-match presentation, “Perfect, the fast bowlers bowled really well with Mukesh (Kumar), Shardul (Thakur) and Hardik (Pandya). Me and Jaddu were brilliant. We hit the right lengths, which is what was necessary on this wicket.”
“I’m just focusing on my rhythm, hitting the right lengths and it has been very nice. I thought it will be a seaming paradise. We are happy we (he and Jadeja) got seven wickets for our side. It was spinning a bit, and there was bounce as well,” he added.
