In the second T20I match between India and West Indies in Guyana on Sunday, Ishan Kishan attempted to outsmart Rovman Powell from behind the stumps. In the 7th over, Ravi Bishnoi delivered the ball wide off the leg stump, and Kishan collected it skillfully. However, he waited for Powell to lift his leg before attempting the stumping.
Unfortunately, when he finally dislodged the bails, it was too late, and Powell had already returned to his crease. Kishan’s plan didn’t materialize as he had hoped. In the second T20I against West Indies in Guyana on Sunday, India won the toss and chose to bat first, but they faced difficulties, reaching 152-7. During this innings, Tilak Varma achieved his inaugural international half-century.
The 20-year-old Varma, who had an impressive IPL season with 343 runs for the Mumbai Indians, played a valuable innings off 51 runs from 41 balls. However, his innings came to an end when he clipped left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein to fine leg, and Obed McCoy made the catch.

Varma stepped onto the crease during the fourth over following Shubman Gill’s dismissal at third man off Alzarri Joseph and Suryakumar Yadav’s run-out due to a direct hit from Kyle Mayers. Varma and Ishan Kishan formed a 42-run partnership for the third wicket before Romario Shepherd bowled out the opener, who scored 27 runs.
Sanju Samson got out early, and after Varma’s dismissal, who scored 51 runs with five fours and one six, it was up to Hardik Pandya, who scored 24 runs from 18 balls, to guide the Indian team towards a respectable target.
The West Indies bowlers maintained a disciplined performance, with none of them giving away more than 29 runs. Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, and Akeal Hosein all claimed two wickets each.
Despite India posting a total of 152 runs, it proved insufficient as West Indies successfully chased down the target with two wickets remaining.
