WI vs IND: [WATCH] Rahul Dravid Gives A Standing Ovation To Yashasvi Jaiswal For His Outstanding Knock

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid applauded and gave a standing ovation to the debut Test fifty-off opener Yashasvi Jaiswal during the match against the West Indies.

Jaiswal showed exceptional composure and temperament as he carefully crafted his way to a well-deserved half-century, remaining unbeaten on 62 at lunch on the second day of the opening Test.

The Indian openers, Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma displayed control and authority over the West Indies bowling attack, taking their partnership to an impressive 146 runs without any loss. Their steady performance brought India within a mere four runs of the West Indies first innings total of 150.

The Windsor Park pitch, already slow in nature, became even more sluggish, with most deliveries not carrying any venom. Consequently, the Indian batsmen chose a cautious approach, refraining from taking any unnecessary risks against the Caribbean bowlers, who failed to pose much of a threat.

Despite the tight bowling lines from off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall and left-arm orthodox bowler Jomel Warrican, they were unable to generate many wicket-taking opportunities. The lack of pace and movement off the pitch allowed the Indian openers to defend comfortably.

Rahul Dravid stands and applauds Yashasvi Jaiswal during India vs West Indies Match

Jaiswal, who began the day on 40, notched his half-century with a boundary, justifying the team management’s decision to promote him as an opener in his debut Test. This achievement was acknowledged by India’s coach Rahul Dravid, giving Jaiswal a standing ovation—a heartening gesture from one cricketing great to another.

Jaiswal’s innings consisted of seven boundaries, with six of them coming on the previous evening, while Rohit struck six fours and two sixes. The used Dukes ball did not offer much reverse swing, but Rohit’s six over mid-wicket off Alzarri Joseph was a standout shot, showcasing his exceptional skills.

With ample time remaining in the match, the Indian team’s objective was to bat the West Indies out of the game, recognizing the increasing challenges of batting in the third innings on a worn-out track.

A solid foundation had been laid by the openers, setting India on a path to a dominant position in the match. The standing ovation from Rahul Dravid not only acknowledged Jaiswal’s achievement but also served as a testament to the mutual respect and admiration between the legends of Indian cricket.

It was a heartwarming moment that showcased the camaraderie and sportsmanship inherent in the game. As the match progressed, all eyes remained on Jaiswal, eagerly anticipating further remarkable performances from the talented debutant.
