Winning The World Cup In India Jersey Is My Dream – Ajinkya Rahane

The presence of heavyweight stars in India's middle-order has forced Ajinkya Rahane to stay out of the limited-overs side. However, Rahane, who is currently plying his trade in the ongoing tour of New Zealand, still harbours the dream of playing the World Cup in the blue jersey.

Ajinkya Rahane, who last played an ODI game against South Africa in 2018, has been really unlucky with his fortunes in white-ball cricket. While the MSK Prasad-led selection committee has tried out every possible option ahead of the 2019 ICC World Cup in England, they ignored Rahane. The selectors also didn’t consider him even they had to pick two replacements in place of Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar.

Considering the current scenario, it is highly unlikely that Rahane will make it to the limited-overs side once again. However, the veteran middle-order batsman from Mumbai still hopes to represent India in the ICC World Cup. Ajinkya Rahane recently appeared in a quickfire interview with India Today consulting editor Boria Majumdar where he opened up on his dreams.

Ajinkya Rahane Plays A Rapid Fire:

One gift you would like to buy for Radhika: I think my time

Something that you dream for your daughter: Very good education

One dream you still have as a cricketer: Winning the World Cup for the country

Test Championship or World Cup: Both

Favourite inspiration: Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in sports. Apart from sports, my father.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane had a forgettable tour of New Zealand where he managed only 91 runs from the four innings he has batted so far. Rahane's return with the bat sums up India's poor returns in the tour as India are on the verge of losing the second Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

1-0 down in the series, India only lead by 97 runs with four wickets in hand and three days remaining for the Test match.
