The Indian women”s Cricket team vice-captain ” Harmanpreet Kaur ” becomes the first indian to play in the prestigious Big Bash League. Sydney thunder had completed the formalities and released an official statement about the new recruit on Sunday .In a surprising move early on during last month, the BCCI has shown the green light to the Indian women to participate in the high octane tournament down under. It”s definitely a master stroke by BCCI as the female contingent can get a much needed exposure in overseas conditions while they can also bolster their skills as they practice with their overseas counterparts.
The General Manager of the title winning franchise, Mr.Nick Cummins was delighted to sign up Kaur as she would get the balance to the side in their effort to defend the title. The 27 year old has a played a total of 118 games for India comprising of all the 3 formats. It”s only matter of time that such more franchises would show interest towards Indian women players to add to their squads.
