The World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and Australia took place at The Oval on Day 5. Virat Kohli, the star Indian batter, looked in excellent form, but he was just one run short of a well-earned fifty.
Kohli’s innings had to be ended by a magnificent catch by Steve Smith in the slips after he was caught out by Scott Boland’s deception.

Boland kept bowling a slightly off-stump line to him, and Kohli eventually ended up edging a wide delivery to Smith at third slip. All India supporters were shocked by the dismissal because it cost them a crucial wicket in the match, and Anushka Sharma, his wife, was widely recognized on social media for her outrage.
India continued to perform poorly at ICC events as Australia won the World Test Championship for the first time with a humiliating 209-run victory on the fifth day of the summit match.
After losing to New Zealand in the inaugural WTC finals in 2021, India suffered a second defeat in as many finals.
Chasing a seemingly impossible target of 444, India started the day at 164 for 3 but soon lost batting stalwart Virat Kohli (49), followed by Ravindra Jadeja ((0)) and Ajinkya Rahane (43) to be bowled out for 234 in 63.3 overs.
The best bowler on display, Scott Boland (3/46) ended the match definitively by dismissing Kohli and Jadeja in a single over, making the rest of the proceedings formalities.
However, Nathan Lyon (4/41) had the best statistics because he quickly cleaned up the tail.
