“You Can’t Even Consider Mahi Bhai”- Sanju Samson Remarks On The Difficulty Of Planning For MS Dhoni

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson was recently asked to identify a batter he struggles to strategize against. He selected former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leader MS Dhoni as the toughest opponent in terms of planning.

Samson noted that the RR team management typically formulates strategies for each player in the opposing batting lineup. However, he mentioned that they abandon their plans when it comes to Dhoni and move on to the next player. In an interview on journalist Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Samson stated:

“You cannot even think about Mahi bhai. We plan for everyone in the batting order but when Mahi bhai comes, we say it’s okay, let’s look at the next one. We cannot plan for him.”

Sanju Samson’s last appearance in international cricket was during India’s recent three-match home T20I series against Bangladesh. The right-handed batsman shone in the third match, where he achieved his first T20I century.

The 29-year-old scored 111 runs off only 47 balls, contributing to India’s total of 297/6 in 20 overs. India went on to win by a substantial 133 runs, completing a 3-0 series sweep over the visitors.

“Aankh bandh kar ke khel raha”-Sanju Samson on Hardik Pandya’s no-look shot against Bangladesh

In the video mentioned, Sanju Samson was asked to identify a batter skilled at the upper cut. He chose Hardik Pandya, noting that the all-rounder has begun executing the shot with his eyes closed.

Samson was referring to Hardik’s no-look shot against Taskin Ahmed in the T20I series opener between India and Bangladesh in Gwalior. He stated:

“Hardik plays the upper cut very well. Aankh bandh karke aaj kal khel raha (He is playing it with closed eyes these days). (On if he asked him about the shot) Kya tha bhai, aise kaun khelta hai yaar (What was that brother, who plays like this).”

Samson was part of Kerala’s playing XI in their recent Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Karnataka. He scored 15 not out as Kerala ended with 161/3. The match was suspended due to rain and ultimately finished in a draw.
