Child stars Angus and Matilda bid a special farewell to the New Zealand team before the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean and the United States of America (USA).

Last month, the kids revealed the Black Caps lineup after the New Zealand board came up with something new. They were present at the airport as the Kiwis were about to leave.

The young couple’s novel strategy, which involved having them read out the 15-player lineup at a press conference, went viral on social media very fast. However, Angus and Matilda’s participation didn’t stop there. They went above and beyond by seeing the players off at the airport before their trip to the USA and the West Indies for the major event.

The two brought a touching touch to the team’s farewell, as they were observed interacting with the squad at the check-in desk. During their playful interviews with the athletes, the animated pair asked amusing questions like, “What will you be watching on the plane?” and “Who are you going to miss the most?”

As the BlackCaps departed for the worldwide 20-team competition, they also celebrated each player’s selection and took pictures with them, adding to the special parting. Kane Williamson, the captain, Mitchell Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Trent Boult, and Glenn Phillips are among the Kiwi players who just finished the IPL 2024 in India.

Earlier, a five-match Twenty20 International series in Pakistan included other team members. Without any warm-up games, the Williamson-led team will play right into the group-stage matchups. Group C, which also includes Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, Uganda, and the West Indies, includes New Zealand.

The New Zealanders will take on Afghanistan in Guyana on June 7 and then play the co-hosts, the West Indies, in Trinidad five days later. They have booked their last group stage matches in Trinidad, where they will play Papua New Guinea and Uganda, respectively.
