Thirteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi shone in Bihar’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 Group E clash against Baroda at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, December 31, smashing 71 off 42 balls.

Suryavanshi first gained attention with a dazzling 104 off 62 for India U19 against Australia U19, followed by an impressive 176 runs in five matches during India U19’s run to the Men’s U19 Asia Cup final.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s impressive performances, including his remarkable displays for India U19, attracted significant attention from IPL franchises Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. This interest culminated in him becoming the youngest player to receive a bid at the IPL auction, marking a significant milestone in his budding career.

In Bihar’s match against Baroda, Suryavanshi took charge as an opener alongside Kumar Ranjish. Displaying remarkable aggression and skill, he powered his way to a blistering half-century off just 30 balls, setting the tone for an explosive innings.

Attempting to maintain his aggressive approach, Vaibhav Suryavanshi lost his wicket to Krunal Pandya, finishing with a knock of 71 off 42 balls, including eight boundaries and four sixes.

Bihar is chasing a target of 278, with skipper Sakib Gani (43 off 82) and Bipin Saurabh (40 off 42) contributing alongside the young Suryavanshi. The team currently stands at 230/9 after 47 overs, requiring 48 more runs to win.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is set to represent the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 season

When 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name emerged at the IPL auction, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals engaged in a fierce bidding war to secure the young talent for the upcoming season. After intense back-and-forth, the Royals successfully signed him for ₹1.1 crore.

This made Suryavanshi the youngest player ever to be auctioned in IPL history. If he takes the field for the Royals in the upcoming season, he will also set the record as the youngest player to play in the IPL.
