Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was one of the superstars when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came up with this unique idea of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. The southpaw was one of the highest earners along with MS Dhoni, who came from illustrious showdowns in the ICC World T20 in South Africa, where India lifted the title.

Much deserved, Yuvraj Singh got the icon player status from Kings XI Punjab; his native IPL franchise. Yuvraj brought immediate success taking the side to the semifinals in the debut season. However, things started to fall down since then and Yuvraj never found any success there.

Going by his calibre, the dashing all-rounder went back to the auctions and attracted huge bids. He has represented Pune Warriors India (now defunct), Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and lastly Mumbai Indians before calling time on his career. Yuvraj Singh managed to win the illustrious title with Hyderabad in 2016 before then winning in his last season with Mumbai.

Speaking about his IPL journey and his stint with Kings XI Punjab, Yuvraj revealed that he had a forgettable experience. Speaking on the Youtube channel Sportscreen, Yuvraj said that the franchise didn’t do what he had asked them to.

“I wanted to run away from Kings XI Punjab … the management didn’t like me there … they did nothing I asked them to do … and when I left they bought all the players I had been asking them to. I love Punjab but I did not like the running of the franchise,” the former India star said.

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh announced his international retirement last year and expressed that he will also not feature in the IPL. Since then, he has featured in the Global T20 Canada and the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
