Zaheer Khan appointed as captain of the Delhi Daredevils: Former left-arm pacer for India, Zaheer Khan has been appointed as Delhi Daredevils captain for this year”s Indian Premier League (IPL 9).
On Monday (March 28), DD announced that Zaheer will lead the team in the 9th edition of the tournament which begins on April 9.
Team Mentor Rahul Dravid has expressed his happiness about Zaheer’s appointment as the captain of the team. Speaking about the appointment, Dravid praised the veteran pacer and his former teammate for his confidence, stating that he will infuse confidence in the team.
Rahul Dravid: “Zak has a big personality, but it is the steel, focus and drive behind the outward confidence which I think he will bring to the captaincy and that I am sure will inspire the rest of the team.
“He has the respect of the dressing room and the franchise is proud to have him as our captain. I would like to congratulate him on the appointment and wish him, and the rest of the squad all the very best,” Dravid added.
Zaheer himself was delighted with his new role. He said that this opportunity has given back the game to him. In his overall IPL career, he has picked up 82 wickets in 77 games at an economy of 7.53.
