CPL 2021 has entered the business end and Swami Vivekananda International School faced Happy Boys at the Thakur Village Cricket Stadium in Kandivali East in a U-16 game. Swami Vivekananda produced a complete effort to edge past Happy Boys in a crucial encounter.

Opting to bat first, Swami Vivekananda International School got off to a steady start. Krish Kanavade looked in premium touch as he timed the ball brilliantly. They managed to score 26 runs before Happy Boys bowler Parth Shah draw the first blood, removing Pranay Kapadia and Darshan Maru backed it with another wicket removing the other opener to have SVIS at 31 for two.

Since then, Swami Vivekananda’s middle-order batters took control of the scheme of things. Aaditya Naik and Rudra Tank steadied the innings with a quickfire partnership to set the tone before Aadesh Rane finished the innings on a high. Rane played a quickfire knock of 40 runs off just 22 deliveries which included three boundaries and two towering sixes propelling SVIS to 145 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing a challenging total, Happy Boys made a strong start as they raced to 26 runs in just 2.5 overs before Pranav Sawant walked back to the dugout. Parth Shah and Shreyansh Hirlekar added 26 runs for the second wicket trying to take the game away from Swami Vivekananda but once Parth (13) got out, it was all downside for Happy Boys.

They lost wickets at regular intervals and only managed 120 runs at the end of 20 overs. Medhankar Lavesh was the pick of the bowlers returning with three wickets while Rudra Tank and Aadesh Rane chipped in with two wickets each to seal the tie for SVIS.

Aadesh was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round performance in CPL 2021. After scoring 22-ball 40 runs, he returned with figures of two for 16 from his four overs.
