In a hope of making up for the lost income due to the deadly virus, Cricket Australia is looking to make the most from the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which is to be played at the end of this year. Speaking of the same, the chief executive of Cricket Australia Kevin Roberts feels it is the need of the hour for the board.

Kevin Roberts added that they are looking at every possible aspect for hosting the series against the Indian National Cricket Team. He further highlighted the option of playing all the Test matches in a single venue to generate income for Cricket Australia.
Originally, India are scheduled to stay in Australia for a couple of months and will play four Tests and 3 ODIs against the hosts. There might also be a pink-ball Test. All sports leagues are on hold in Australia and strict border and travel restrictions have been imposed amid the pandemic, including bans on international visitors.

“If you contemplate the prospect of the international season, in particular, being affected, we have an issue of (losing revenue of) hundreds of millions of dollars on our hands,” Roberts said as per Associated Press. “We’ll be doing everything possible to launch and stage a season in 2020-21.”
We won’t rule anything out –
Australia and India have regularly met in four-test series but administrators in both countries want to expand on the growing rivalry. Australia’s oldest and fiercest rivalry is the Ashes series against England, which is played over five tests.
Roberts said the relationship between Australian officials and the Board of Control for Cricket in India is strong, and both sides are committed to staging five-match Test series in the future.

“We won’t rule anything out in terms of the Indian series. Along with the BCCI and Indian players, we want to stage a series that inspires the cricket world, whether or not there are people in the stands,” he said. “We need to face all possibilities. Fortunately, we have a little bit of time to work out scenarios.”
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for the most-anticipated Test series. Most likely, the series will go on the board at the right time if the ongoing issue gets settled in the cricketing world.
