After going unsold in the first round of the IPL 2021 auctions, KKR roped in Harbhajan Singh for his base price of 2 crores. They also made a smart move to rope in Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting for his base price. Another impressive buy for the franchise was Karnataka batsman Karun Nair.

Harbhajan Singh going unsold in the first round was one of the biggest surprises of the IPL 2021 auction The veteran Indian spinner was earlier released by CSK and was released from the contract after he missed the previous season. Harbhajan had joined Chennai Super Kings prior to the 2018 season of IPL for Rs 2 crore. Harbhajan Singh had played an instrumental role in helping CSK reach the final of IPL 2019 with 16 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 7.09.

Harbhajan Singh Thanks KKR Franchise

Meanwhile, after joining KKR, the veteran spinner has thanked the franchise and said that he is looking forward to helping the team win its third IPL title. 

“Looking forward to win another Trophy with purple and gold.. thank you for having me.. all you will get from me is 100 percent commitment at all time.. see you all soon #KKRHaiTaiyaar @KKRiders @Eoin16 @iamsrk,” tweeted Harbhajan.

10 players had the maximum bracket of 2 crores as the base price. Those players are namely Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav are the two Indian players in the list. Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood are the overseas recruits in the list.

Harbhajan Singh had decided to opt-out of IPL 2021 which resulted in CSK terminating his contract. However, the franchise allowed Suresh Raina to return back to the franchise who also had skipped the IPL last year. 

The veteran Indian spinner has already been part of three-title winning sides with Mumbai Indians before the franchise finally released him ahead of IPL 2018.
