India won the final ODI by 13 runs in Canberra, however former England skipper Michael Vaughan has slammed the timid batting approach of their batsmen throughout the ODIs. He has particularly criticised the timid batting approach of the Indian top-order barring Virat Kohli. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja shared a 150-run stand to help India post a total of 302 runs. Despite the win, Vaughan feels that the Indian batsman are carrying a timid mindset which is preventing them to play an aggressive brand of cricket.

Talking to Cricbuzz Live, Vaughan said that India are carrying a ‘timid mindset’ which is barring them from playing aggressive cricket.

‘We saw an incredible partnership between Pandya and Jadeja but beyond that is not great deal but I was just wondering back of the mind that they are playing timidly and is getting them into a situation,” said Vaughan on Cricbuzz.

The former England skipper said that India are capable of playing aggressive cricket. All they need is freedom on the ground. India under Kohli has always played aggressive cricket. Not watching them do the same has surprised Michael Vaughan.

“I just think it’s freedom and culture around dressing room which allows them to do that (play aggressively) and I think, India have the talent in their batsmen and playing with that approach because they’ve got the skill, they’ve got the time, they’ve got the gift. I just wonder if in that culture, in the Indian dressing room, I just wonder it’s a little bit old school” said Vaughan.

Team India will play the first of the three T20Is in Canberra on Friday after losing the ODI series 2-1. A clean sweep will be the ideal result for Virat Kohli’s men heading into the Test series after the three games.

T Natarajan after his impressive performance in the final ODI is in line for making his T20I debut. Manish Pandey is also expected to play the first game after warming the benches in the ODI series. Rohit Sharma will miss the T20Is as well after missing the ODI series.
