Even though the gentlemen’s game started off with a basic all-white outfit in the field, glamour has finally caught up with the sport. Now, it’s perhaps more fashionable than any other sport. Indian cricketers, at the moment, are giving film actors a run for their money when it comes to being stylish, and brands are using that to their benefit, rightfully so. But, it wasn’t the same for Sourav Ganguly during his times, which didn’t sit well with Yuvraj Singh.
Being the captain of India for the most part of his career, Sourav Ganguly has always worked on the development of the team on the field. In the process, he didn’t even take care of his dressing style or other aspects, which didn’t go well with Yuvraj Singh, who used to be the fashion icon in those times.
Dada please, you are India captain – Yuvraj Singh
It was a team full of youngsters, who were backed by the skipper Sourav Ganguly to deliver the best. As youngsters, players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Sehwag and Zaheer weren’t that casual with Sourav Ganguly at the start of their career but when the years passed on they got very frank with him and also pulled his leg at times.
Following that, Yuvraj Singh expressed his inner feeling to Ganguly saying that he needs to change his dressing style, being the captain of the team. However, Ganguly never listened to them and continued his style on and off the field.
“We were not impressed with Dada at all. He was the India captain, such a big name. So I was like, Dada please, you are India captain, you can not dress up like that. But Dada was like, let it be, how does it matter,” Yuvraj told Aaj Tak.
In an Instagram live session with former teammate Mohammad Kaif, when asked if fans would get to see him in the commentary box soon, Yuvraj said that more than commentary, he was interested in coaching.
