Scotland have started their T20 World Cup journey in a positive way in the UAE. Along with their performance, their newly designed purple-shaded jersey made headlines also as it has impressed everyone. And, as per the news, a 12-year-old girl named – Rebecca Downie has designed it.

Notably, the design has been selected from over 200 entries from different schools within Scotland and it is also based on the colours of Scotland’s national emblem as well.

However, Rebecca Downie presented the kit before the players left for Oman to participate in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. The little girl along with her family was called as special guests against Zimbabwe, where they met all the players of Scotland as well.

“It was great to meet Rebecca and her family recently and see her wearing the new shirt. The team are really proud of the design and we are planning to go out there and do it justice with our performances in the World Cup. We hope that the fans will enjoy the new design and wear them proudly as they support us from back home”, said the skipper of Scotland Kyle Coetzer as quoted by Cricketnmore.

Scotland take a step closer to the Super 12s

However, Scotland are placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Oman in Round 1 of the T20 World Cup 2021. And, they have already beat Bangladesh in the first game. The winner of this group will join India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan in Group 2 of the Super 12. On the other hand, the second-placed team will join Group A as well.
