Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, who already made his debut in the cash-rich IPL and the vitality T20 blast is all set to play for the heat now. He is expected to be available for the entire season and the side will be looking to clinch their second after the 2012-13 season.
Brisbane Heat despite their destructive opening combo wasn”t able to create an impact in the last season of BBL. But is the season they are targeting? Well, the probabilities are certainly higher.
Speaking to the media, head coach Daniel Vettori said “Mujeeb is a rare talent and we’re delighted he is going to play in the BBL for the first time. From what we have seen so far at International level and in competitions like the IPL and the Vitality t20 Blast in England, he has the skills and maturity to adapt and excel in a variety of conditions.”
Vettori whose focus is now fully on BBL after his tenure with RCB further added “He has been successful in the power play and closing out innings, so we will have options to explore depending on the state of the game. At this stage, we anticipate having him for the entire BBL which is a bonus. “
Mujeeb”s presence in IPL was a major strength for Kings XI Punjab and with his variety of deliveries, he might be a trump card for the heat this season.
It is to be noted that Brendon Mccullum and Mujeeb are the two international players for them and the details regarding the third player is expected to be announced soon.
