The 2022 T20 World Cup is heading toward the business end with the knockout round starting this week. New Zealand, India, England, and Pakistan have topped the group stages in Super 12 to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson reckons that the fans should get to witness the India-Pakistan final in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Team India and Pakistan came head to head in the Super 12 stages of the tournament. They played their tournament opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against each other, where India emerged as the winner in a thrilling encounter. Veteran batter Virat Kohli played a fantastic 82* to power India home.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson feels that the fans deserve another India-Pakistan match, in the finals of the tournament. Speaking to ICC’s official website, the expressed,

“Everyone would love to see Pakistan and India in the final. I, unfortunately, missed that first (Super 12) game at the MCG, as I commentated on the game previously between Australia and New Zealand. But from all reports, all the people that went along to that game said it was something very special and the game was obviously an amazing game to watch on TV as well. They played in the T20 World Cup final in 2007 and everyone would love to see it again.”

India to take on England in 2022 T20 World Cup semis

Team India will take on England in the 2022 T20 World Cup’s second semi-final on November 10 at the Adelaide Oval. They topped Group 2 in Super 12 with eight points from five matches. On the other hand, England finished second in Group 1 with seven points.

The Group 1 table-toppers New Zealand will play against Pakistan in the first semi-final on Wednesday, November 9 in Sydney. New Zealand also managed seven points from five matches, however, a better NRR took them to the top of the table. Meanwhile, Pakistan managed to secure six points in the Super 12 stage to qualify for the knock-outs.
