Cricketers getting arrested for wrong or weird reasons have been a regularity in the world of the sport in recent times. While some of them were wrongly arrested, some created crimes like match-fixing to get themselves arrested. Suresh Raina

Raina was recently arrested from a Mumbai club as he was attending a party. According to the police he was arrested for breaching the COVID-19 protocols along with a few people from Bollywood. Raina’s team then sent out a statement saying that he was unaware of breaching the protocols and that he would be careful from hereon. Raina’s arrest was booked under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and provisions of NMDA.
