India defeated Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup clash at Old Trafford by 89 runs. Rohit Sharma, who was in the form of his life during that World Cup slammed 140 runs off 113 balls, to take India to a score of 336 runs. Pakistan’s batting line-up faltered as India won the match on D/L.
‘Player of the Match’ Rohit attended the press conference post-India’s win. The opening batter was asked what he would suggest to the Pakistan batting line-up which was going through a crisis. Rohit replied:
“Agar main Pakistan ka coach bana to bilkul bataunga, abhi kya bataunga?” (If I ever become Pakistan’s coach, I will definitely let you know. What can I say right now).

During the 2019 India vs South Africa series, Rohit Sharma was promoted as an opener for the first time in red-ball cricket. The right-hander grabbed the opportunity with both hands, as he slammed twin hundreds in the match.
Rohit scored 176 and 127 in the first and second innings respectively. When asked about his performance in the press conference Rohit Sharma said:

During India’s 2019 World Cup match against England, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant made his world cup debut for India. Surprisingly, he came out to bat at number 4, ahead of all-rounder in-form batter Hardik Pandya.
The all-rounder had played a good cameo for India during their previous match. When asked about whether Rohit Sharma was surprised to see Rishabh Pant walking out to bat at number 4, Rohit trolled the Journalist, by replying:

Rohit Sharma addressed the media on the eve of his first-ever Test match as India’s skipper in Mohali. The Indian skipper was asked, if he has set any targets for himself, after being appointed as India’s Test captain.
While replying to the question, Rohit Sharma misinterpreted ‘anban’ for ‘ups and downs’. However, he quickly corrected himself, admitting that his Hindi is not good. He said,
“Aisa nahi, mujhe kuch regret hai, kaafi saari injuries aur kaafi saare anban hue hain beeche mein…… (corrects himself) Ups and downs – mera hindi utna accha nahi – Utaar chadhaav toh kaafi hue hain, aur voh chalta rehta hai jab tak aap cricket kheloge, aapko smooth ride nahi milega.” (I don’t have any regrets. There have been many injuries and rifts in my career….. ups and downs. My Hindi is not good. There have been lot’s of ups and downs but it happens for as long as you play, you don’t get a smooth ride in your career)

During the third and final test match against South Africa in 2019, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma built a partnership of 267 runs. Rohit Sharma slammed a double-century while Rahane scored 115 runs in the innings.
During the press meet at the end of the day’s play, a journalist asked Rohit Sharma a question about Ajinkya Rahane’s inconsistent form. While asking the question, the journalist used the phrase ‘saala’ and asked:
“What do you want to say about Ajinkya Rahane‘s batting, what’s it like watching it from other ends – ‘Saala chabuk batting Karta hai’.”
The question surprised Rohit Sharma, and left him in splits. While replying Rohit requested the journalist to not use the term ‘saala’. He said, “Saala mat bolo yaar”.
