India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant looked in good touch during the ongoing D/N test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. He slammed a fifty in the second innings of the test match.

During his knock, the wicket-keeper survived a loud lbw appeal. After hitting the pads, the ball also rolled on to hit the stumps, but as luck would have it, the bails remain intact. The incident took place in the 42nd over, against Praveen Jayawickrama. The ball turned in sharply from outside off, Pant hung back and moved across to pad the ball away.

The Sri Lankan took a review, but, Pant was saved as the ball did not turn enough to hit then stumps. However, after the ball hit the pads, it had gone on to hit the stumps, but the bails were unmoved.

Rishabh Pant was dismissed on the very next delivery of the over. He tried to dance down the track and hit the ball, but could not reach to the pitch of the ball, and gave a catch to the bowler Jayavickrama.

His 50 off 31-balls knock included seven boundaries and two sixes. He broke the record for fastest fifty by an Indian in test matches, surpassing Kapil Dev.

India set Sri Lanka a target of 447 runs in the fourth innings of the second test match at Bengaluru. Shreyas Iyer slammed another fifty in the match. He scored 67 runs off 87 balls, including 9 boundaries. He was well supported by Rishabh Pant, who scored 50 off 31 balls. India declared their innings on 303 for the loss of nine wickets.

Earlier in the match, India scored 252 in the first innings and bowled Sri Lanka out for 109 runs. In the fourth innings, the visitors are 105/5 having lost Thirimanne, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Matthews and Dhananjaya De Silva on the morning session of day 3.
