The Indian Team registered comprehensive 65 runs win over hosts New Zealand in the 2nd T20I match played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on 20 November which came on the back of a stunning show from Suryakumar Yadav.

It was a struggle initially as Rishabh Pant came as an opener along with Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar Yadav played and missed off the first two balls against Lockie Ferguson. He then played a scoop shot that did not middle going past beyond the wicketkeeper and fielder. The Indian batting struggled as Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer fell cheaply.

Suryakumar Yadav put enough pressure on the New Zealand bowlers, especially against Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santer. He then reached a half-century off 32 balls keeping. After reaching fifty, Surya Kumar Yadav took the Kiwi bowlers apart, especially Tim Southee, Adam Milne, and Lockie Ferguson. It was a sensational knock by Surya completing his 2nd T20I century off 49 balls.

He did not get strike in the final over as Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Washington Sundar were dismissed off three deliveries by Tim Southee. Surya Kumar remained not out on 111 off 51 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 217.64.

Chasing 192 runs to win, New Zealand was never in the hunt as Kane Williamson was the top scorer with 61 off 52 balls. Deepak Hooda took 4 wickets for 10 runs, Yuzvendra Chahal and Siraj grabbed 2 wickets each, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sundar took 1 wicket each. India registered a dominating 65 runs win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the player of the match award for his brilliant 111 not out. He has been in sensational form for Team India in the shortest format. Surya has looked unstoppable in the T20I format for the year 2022. He played a total of 30 innings with 1151 runs so far with 2 centuries and 9 half-centuries.

Suryakumar Yadav scored his first T20I century against England

Suryakumar scored his first T20I century against England in the 3rd T20I match played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 10th July 2022. Chasing down a massive total of 216 runs to win, he came with India struggling at 31 for 3.

Suryakumar Yadav showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on England bowlers to reach fifty off 32 balls. He then hammered with explosive hitting reaching a century off 48 balls and looking to take India on course for an impossible win. He eventually fell in the 19th over for a sensational 117 off 55 balls with 14 fours and 6 sixes.

Rohit Sharma achieved this feat in 2018. Rohit scored his first T20I century during 2018 against England at County Ground, Bristol on 8th July.  He made 100 not out off 56 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 178.57.

He scored his 2nd century of 2018 against West Indies at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, Lucknow on 6th November. During that knock, he hit 111 not out off 61 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes with a strike rate of 181.96.
