He smashed his second T20I century to power India to a comprehensive win. Following his knock, an old tweet from Rohit Sharma about the prolific run-scorer resurfaced online.
Suryakumar Yadav is the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2022. He is also the highest-ranked batter in the format. The right-handed batter smashed 111 runs in the second T20I against New Zealand, leaving the fans and the expert mesmerized. While social media was buzzing with praise for the Indian cricketer, an 11-year-old Rohit Sharma Tweet, predicting Suryakumar Yadav’s future resurfaced online.

Suryakumar Yadav made his India debut against England in a T20I match in Ahmedabad. Since then he has taken international cricket by storm, especially the T20 format. In 41 matches, he has scored 1395 at an average of 45, and a strike rate of 181.64. The Mumbai batter has two centuries and twelve half-centuries to his name in the format so far.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson lauded Suryakumar Yadav’s batting performance in the second T20I. He expressed that the Indian cricketer’s knock was “out of this world”. Williamson added that New Zealand was not up to the mark in the match. Chasing 192 runs, they were bowled out for a paltry 126. Kane Williamson said at the post-match presentation,
“It was not our best effort. Surya’s innings was out of this world. One of the best knocks I’ve ever seen. Some of those shots, I’ve never seen before. They were outstanding, but we weren’t up to mark. We didn’t get momentum with the ball, didn’t get enough wickets, and didn’t get momentum with the bat either.”
