Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a beauty to knock down the stumps of Dinesh Karthik in TNPL yesterday. His side Dindigul Dragons was too hot to handle for Karaikudi Kaalai as the former registered the victory by 10 wickets. Openers Hari Nishanth and N Jagadeesan finished the formalities in 159 chase amassing half-centuries.

The stump-to-stump line made the magic for Ashwin as he dismissed Karthik for just 17 runs. Ashwin himself shared the video of the dismissal on his Instagram handle terming Karthik as “one of his most admired batsmen”. He also mentioned that the commentary by Subramaniam Badrinath and Hemang Badani made the occasion more special. It is to be noted that all of them represented the Tamilnadu side in Ranji cricket over the years.

The video is currently trending on the social media and fans are applauding Ashwin for the quality of spin bowling. In no time, it has hit over 92k views and still going strong.

Dindigul Dragons are now completely dominating the league as they registered victories in four games played. Their star opener N Jagadeesan leads the batting charts with 235 runs at an average of 117.

Two sides of the coin

Ashwin is all set to represent India in whites for the test championship against the carribiens. He had enough county experience that exhibited his brilliance as an all-rounder prior to this TNPL.

On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik was unfortunate to miss out on the squad. In most of the bilateral series played last year, he was an automatic selection, but this time he isn”t given a go. He played a couple of games in the World Cup but wasn”t able to make an impact.

TNPL is currently bringing a lot of youngsters in limelight. With a lot of games still in the store, we are set to witness some magic in days to come. The tournament ends on August 15th, with the final to be played in Chennai. Only time will tell if the things can spice up towards the end of group stages
