England had a massive security scare as multiple gunshots were heard within the one-kilometre vicinity of the Multan cricket stadium, which is set to play the host for the second Test match. The tourists currently lead the three-match series 1-0, winning the Rawalpindi Test by 74 runs.

Incidentally, Pakistan have faced severe backlash last decade for the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team which saw teams boycotting the nation for more than 10 years. Moreover, England themselves are touring Pakistan after a gap of 17 years.

According to the Independent, the gunfire was heard near the England cricket team’s hotel in Pakistan. The police made four arrests in the wake of the incident. Gunshots were heard in the wee hours before England left the hotel for training at the Multan Stadium.

England players have reportedly received the presidential level of security for the ongoing tour of Pakistan. The report added England’s training plans for the 2nd Test were unaffected by the shocking incident.

The second Test also got underway without any delay as Pakistan have tightened its security more after the incident.

England opt to bat first in 2nd Test

England-led by Ben Stokes have decided to bat first with an eye to wrap up the series after a thumping victory in the first Test. Pakistan have made three changes to their playing XI, while the tourists have brought in speedster Mark Wood, who missed the first Test due to injury.

At the time of writing, the visitors are at 11/0 in 3.3 overs with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett batting in the middle.
