Team India ended the ODI series with a thumping win by 227 runs in the third ODI against Bangladesh. It was a disappointing batting performance by Men in Blue as they could only score 186 runs in the first ODI and then could not close the match after reducing Bangladesh to 69 for 6 during the second match.

Despite the Indian team losing the series 1-2, there were a few positives that could work well in future matches ahead of the 50-over World Cup to be played in 2023.

The Indian team suffered lots of injuries to their key players that resulted in the series loss. It was a resounding win for Men in Blue during the third ODI played at Chattogram on 10 December.

Here we look at the 3 positives for Team India from the ODI series against Bangladesh.

#1 Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik’s bowling

Mohammed Siraj was simply outstanding in the first two ODI matches at Mirpur. After the Indian batters were bundled out for 186, Siraj took advantage of the conditions looked impressive with his bowling.

Siraj started his wickets tally grabbing Anamul Haque with a lovely catch by Washington Sundar. He then broke the partnership getting rid of Mushfiqur Rahim and putting Bangladesh under pressure. The pace bowler then dismissed Hasan Mahmud to leave the hosts under pressure. It was an exceptional spell ending with figures of 3 for 35 in 10 overs.

The second ODI saw some sensational bowling. Siraj produced some lovely deliveries getting the wickets of Anamul Haque and then shattering the stumps of Liton Das. After an impressive start, he was not able to get his rhythm right going for 73 runs in his 10 overs with 2 wickets.

Siraj again got into the wicket’s column getting rid of Bangladesh captain Washington Sundar in the third ODI played on December 10. He looked impressive with his speed troubling Bangladesh batters.

Umran Malik was named as a replacement for Mohammed Shami for this ODI series. He looked sharp in the second ODI bowling bouncers to Shakib AL Hasan and then rattling the stumps of Shanto. Malik created an impact bowling 151 KMPH keeping the pressure on. Malik took his second wicket getting rid of Mahmudullah with a stunning one-handed catch by KL Rahul.

Malik was taken runs in the death overs going for 58 runs in his 10 overs. He looked sharp again in the third ODI as he bowled with pace getting the wicket of Yasir Ali. His bowling kept Bangladesh on the back foot ending the match by dismissing Musfiztur Rahman. The speedster from Jammu and Kashmir bowled 8 overs giving away 43 runs and 2 wickets.

#2 Washington Sundar’s decent bowling

Washington Sundar impressed with accurate spin bowling in the ODI series between India and Bangladesh. He bowled stump to stump creating an impact.

The first ODI match saw Sundar taking the wicket of Liton Das. Sundar then got rid of Shakib Al Hasan with a stunning one-handed catch by Virat Kohli. He was not given full quota giving away just 17 runs and grabbing two important wickets.

Sundar showed his class in the second one-day international match. He put enough pressure on Bangladesh batters with stump-to-stump line. As a result of the pressure, Sundar took the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan. He then dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Afif Hossain in the same over to reduce Bangladesh to 69 for 6.

His bowling looked exemplary ending with figures of 3 for 37 in 10 overs. Despite Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz putting on a decent partnership, Sundar kept the pressure on Bangladesh batters.

#3 Ishan Kishan’s double century

Ishan Kishan proved his worth with a stunning double-century in the third ODI match. He was given a chance as Rohit Sharma was ruled out due to a thumb injury.

Kishan opened the innings for India and looked in decent touch putting pressure on Bangladesh bowlers. He completed a half-century off 49 balls and continued his hitting abilities.

His hitting abilities stunned Bangladesh bowlers and completed the fastest double century off 126 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 210 with 24 fours and 10 sixes.

Ishan Kishan has shown that he can change the course of the game. His performance in ODI cricket has been decent enough and would be looking for more such knocks in near future.
