The chief selector MSK Prasad has revealed the reason behind Dhoni”s exclusion for the three-match T20I series against the Proteas. Fans and former players were shocked by the absence of Dhoni in the squad.
Speaking to India Today, MSK Prasad said that Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the selection. “Yes he was unavailable for selection“, said Prasad.
It is to be noted that the selectors decided to almost stick with the T20I team that played West Indies. However, the board also chose to include Hardik Pandya, who was given a slight rest ahead of future assignments.
It will be interesting if Dhoni will be a part of the limited-over internationals going ahead. The board is currently focussed on building a young and dynamic team ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
With these details, it can be said that Rishabh Pant is currently under a “training period” to groom himself across all formats of the game. He wasn”t at his brutal best in the ongoing series at West Indies. With the second test happening today, all eyes on him if he makes into playing XI.
