Former Pakistani skipper Waqar Younis is all set to be appointed as the bowling coach of the National team.

The board has formally begun the interview process for the applicants. Younis appeared to be the favorites as Muhammad Akram, the former bowler chose to withdraw his application. Additionally, Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohsin Khan appeared in person for the interviews. Dean Jones, another contender for the position of head coach, was reportedly interviewed on skype.

According to sources, the board is keen to appoint Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis as the head and bowling coaches respectively. The PCB initiated the hunting process as they aren”t content with Micky Arthur & Co. during the world cup and the English tour.

Waqar Younis – One another time

Waqar Younis already had several stints with the team in the coaching role. He was in and out of the coaching role since the last decade. In 2016, he quit his role as the head coach of the side serving for two years.

Additionally, he was associated with several T20 franchises across the world. Apart from being the head coach for the Multan Sultans side in PSL, he also functions as a mentor for Sylhet Sixers in the Bangladesh Premier League.

However, an official confirmation on his appointment is awaited.

Known for its domination in bowling line-up, can Waqar finetune the inconsistency issues in the Pakistan side? Only time will tell.
