Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag Laments Form After Narrow IPL Loss To Sunrisers Hyderabad

Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag expressed disappointment after his team narrowly lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Indian Premier League match.

Despite his efforts, he acknowledged that he wasn’t performing at his best, mentioning, “I got a lot of areas to improve. I am not in my best form, I would have finished the game otherwise.” Reflecting on his performance, he added, “Is it my best innings? No. I would say that if I get a hundred.”

Parag has been in better form recently, especially batting at number four, where he feels more comfortable. He’s scored 409 runs in ten matches, with a good average and strike rate, including four half-centuries. He described the loss as “dramatic” and attributed it to some small errors made by the team.

Despite the defeat, Parag emphasized focusing on the positives and learning from mistakes rather than dwelling on them. He explained, “It is never good to end on the losing side. We did a lot of things right. We will focus on more rather than dwelling on our mistakes.”

Regarding his dismissal and that of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Parag clarified that they didn’t throw away their wickets but made errors in execution against some excellent bowling from SRH. He credited SRH’s bowlers, especially Pat Cummins, for their performance. Parag also praised SRH’s Nitish Kumar Reddy for his impressive batting display, particularly against spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

He expressed happiness at the selection of his teammates for the T20 World Cup and hoped they could bring home the trophy.

In the match, SRH chose to bat first and posted a formidable total, thanks to contributions from Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy. In response, RR had a shaky start but fought back with a strong partnership between Jaiswal and Parag.

Despite a valiant effort from Rovman Powell, they fell short by just one run. SRH’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named the Player of the Match for his stellar bowling performance. With this win, SRH climbed to the fourth spot on the points table, while RR maintained their position at the top.
