Faf du Plessis, a veteran South African cricketer, has stated that he plans to score a century for each franchise for which he plays. The right-handed batter made the statement following a blazing century for the Joburg Super Kings against the Durban Super Giants on Tuesday in Johannesburg.
Faf Du Plessis Chasing 179, the skipper hit an unbeaten 113 off 58 deliveries, laced with eight fours and as many sixes, to lead the Super Kings to an important eight-wicket win. Du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks combined for 157 runs in 16.3 overs to lead the Yellow Army to their fourth win in eight games.
The 38-year-old stated at the post-match presentation that the wicket was a typical Wanderers track and that he kept telling Hendricks to get him on strike. The former Proteas captain also stated that the crowds have been extremely enthusiastic, as quoted by iol.co.za:

“It is important for me to convert these scores, all the leagues I play I try to get 100s. It was a nice wicket, a little bit sticky, then typical Wanderers, once you get stuck in. Luckily, I was telling him [Reeza] to get me on strike. Batting is about partnerships. Just encouraged him to keep waiting and play it as late as he can, we knew the back-end would be easier. It’s so good to be playing cricket in front of the South African crowds. Extremely grateful to the fans to come here and support us. The Bullring is on fire!”
Du Plessis, who became the season’s first centurion, also climbed to second in the run-scoring charts. The veteran cricketer has 277 runs in seven games at 46.16, trailing Jos Buttler, who has 285 in eight games.
