After his statements on Bumrah, former Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq seemed to be interested in Virat Kohli. He shared his views on how the current standards of cricket are when compared to his times.
“Look at Virat Kohli when he scores, he scores. Yeah, he is a good player for them and is performing consistently, but I don”t place him in the same class as Sachin Tendulkar, who was a different class altogether”, said Razzaq to Cricket Pakistan.
Kohli has just surpassed Smith to grab the number one spot in ICC Test rankings yesterday. He is now placed at the top in both the primary formats of the game. The comparisons between him and Tendulkar have been a never-ending debate until now. However, the trends are changing. Previously , people differentiated on century scoring capabilities while now more on the standards of the game itself.
“We are not seeing the same world-class players that we played against say between 1992 to 2007. T20 cricket has changed the game. There is no depth in bowling, batting or fielding. It is all basic now”, said Razzaq.
Virat Kohli and his next series
After consecutive Test series victories, Kohli will be seen in action from tomorrow. The Indian side is all set to play West Indies in a three-match T20I series.
With the T20I World Cup not too far, can the Indian side take its preparations to the next level? We will have to wait and see.
