After his maiden call-up for the Indian T20I side, Shivam Dube wasn”t allowed to wait for a longer period of time. He was given an opportunity right in his first game. A series of success in domestic formats captured the attention of selectors and that made Dube”s dream come true.
To represent a country is one of the proudest things for a cricketer. However, in the series against Bangladesh, he wasn”t up to the hype that surrounded him ahead of the series. But, he was highly appreciated for his yorker that dismissed Rahim, thus sealing the series for India.
As a surprise, Virat Kohli decided to send Dube ahead of him in the second T20I today at Trivandrum. The fearless all-rounder came out all guns blazing as he scored his maiden T20I fifty in no time. He had absolutely no respect for Kieron Pollard, the opposition captain scoring up to three sixes in his over.
Right after his wicket, there was a gradual decline in the Indian innings. The new batsmen weren”t able to capitalize on their starts, suffered scoring boundaries. Who knows, maybe his presence for a little more time would have accelerated the score board.
Dube and his spot
However, it is up to Dube to cement his spot in the shortest format of the game. In Hardik Pandya”s absence, he is currently given opportunities. But will the scenarios remain the same after his return?
The young lad has also been retained by his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for the next season of IPL. He hadn”t created such an impact on the side last season. But will this maiden fifty give him confidence?
With the decider being played at his home, can Dube show his brutality?
Whatever, we should admit the fact that this maiden fifty by him should be a sample of bearing additional responsibility on his shoulders.
