Peshawar Zalmi Rope In Hashim Amla As Batting Mentor For PSL 2020

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has roped in former South Africa batting stalwart Hashim Amla as their batting mentor for the upcoming season. Amla's addition to the support staff will further strengthen the squad as the stylish batter brings in a lot to the table and will come good for the youngsters in the squad. 

Peshawar Zalmi is by far the most successful team in the PSL. They won the 2017 edition of the tournament and finished as runners-up in the last two seasons. And this time around, they will be keen to go all the way and in a bid to do so, have roped in Hashim Amla to provide quality assistance to the players.

Amla never played in the PSL but brings vast T20 experience to the Zalmi side. The South African played 44 T20Is for his country, including three T20 World Cups. He has played in several T20 leagues around the world. Peshawar Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi made the announcement on social media platform Twitter and said that Amla's presence will add value to the squad. 

"Hashim Amla is a legendary batsman and a big name; his presence will bring value to our squad," said Afridi.

The former Proteas cricketer will join the likes of head coach Mohammad Akram, manager Arshad Khan and spin-bowling coach Saqlain Mushtaq and Darren Sammy, who opted for a mentoring role in the new season. Mohammad Akram seemed excited to have Hashim Amla by their side and stated that it will be a learning curve for the youngsters in the squad. 

"With the presence of Amla, our young cricketers will have a chance to learn a lot," said Akram.
