Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) is not happy with the state of affairs in Jaipur and there are reports that the side might shift their base to a different city. Incidentally, Royals have time and again played in different venues to spread the game to all parts of the country.
The champions of the first edition of the cash-rich league have many time raised question over the state of affairs in Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and the law and orders in the state. Speaking to Times of India, a Rajasthan Royals officials said that RCA in the past years have only given trouble to the franchises instead of helping them to prosper.
“Be it the state’s sports council, under whose aegis the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) falls, the state machinery catering to law and order, the former officers of the RCA itself and political bigwigs in the state… they’ve all collectively given Rajasthan Royals nothing but trouble over the years. Plain harassment, that’s what we’ve suffered,” the official said.
Furthermore, the official who wanted to stay anonymous stated that the state of the stadium is also not good. Meanwhile, new officials have taken over the chairs but the official feels that they will at least take some time to bring in the changes which are possible before this edition of the IPL.
“Look at the stadium. It’s in such a bad state. The newly-elected body in RCA has just come in and they’ll need time even if they’re looking to correct things. The place has been a mess for quite some time now. Over the years, the RCA has failed to come up with good infrastructure anywhere outside of Jaipur,” he added.
The 13th edition of the IPL will commence from March 29 with the final match on May 24 in Mumbai.
