Swashbuckling Australian opener David Warner has hinted at his international retirement from the Twenty20 Internationals to prolong his career in the other two formats. The southpaw said that he might consider international retirement in a few years to spend more time with the family along with focusing more on the other two formats.

The Aussie opener had an outstanding year with the bat across the formats and eventually was rewarded with the Allan Border Medal for being Australia's Cricketer of the Year in 2019. David Warner also was named the T20 Player of the Year and has been exceptional since his return from the ban for his role in the ball-tampering scandal.

During a recent chat with Australian Associated Press, Warner expressed he has been talking with a lot of cricketers on how to manage the workload. Warner also admitted that he is finding it tough to manage the workload of playing of all the three forms of the game.

"I think you look at Twenty20 internationals, we've got back-to-back World Cups as well," Warner said. "That's probably a format that could be one I drop in a few years. It's going to be very difficult to play all three forms – and good luck to all the guys that want to keep playing – it's challenging," he added.

Meanwhile, with the ICC T20 World Cup lined up later this year, David Warner will be a key campaigner when Australia look to lift the trophy at their backyard.
