India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral cricket since 2012 due to the growing tensions between the neighbouring countries. Recently, former cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi have backed the neighbouring countries to resume cricket but another former cricketer Chetan Chauhan has strongly opposed the proposal.
The relation between the neighbouring countries has hit an all-time low in the wake of the Pulwama attack in 2019. A sense of tension has been prevailing in the borders and cricketers fro both sides have time and again engaged in verbal wars. In the last eight years, India and Pakistan have played against each other only in ICC-based events or multi-nation tournaments.

Recently, in a candid chat, Yuvraj Singh spoke about the importance of resuming bilateral cricket to improve relations between the two nations. But Chetan Chauhan, who was a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad has strongly opposed the idea. He said as long as terrorist are there in Pakistan, India should not visit the country.
"Right now, bilateral series between India and Pakistan should not take place as relations between both countries is not nice. Playing in Pakistan is not safe. Terrorists are not concerned with cricket. As long as terrorists are there in Pakistan, cricket cannot be played between India and Pakistan," Chauhan said.
Meanwhile, India will once again play Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup followed by the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
