The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to play a day-night Test when they tour Australia later this year. Virat Kohli & Co are due to travel down under for the first time since their historic win for a four-match Test series over December and January. Besides, the refurbished Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad is likely to host a day-night Test against England during their five-match series in January and February next year.
On February 16 (Sunday), the BCCI officials met in New Delhi attended by President Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, where they took these important calls. Meanwhile, the decision comes in the wake of meeting with a Cricket Australia delegation led by chairman Earl Eddings in January. Eddings met Ganguly and Shah on the sidelines of the India-Australia ODI series to chart out a plan for the day-night Test and identify the venue.

Incidentally, Jennings came with an agenda of two day-night Tests but BCCI gave green signal to only one. As per reports in ESPNCricinfo, either Brisbane or Adelaide will be the venue for the game. Brisbane will host the first Test of the series, and Adelaide will host a Test towards the latter part of the tour.
Meanwhile, India skipper Virat Kohli expressed his desire to play pink-ball Tests in Australia in the wake of their first-ever day-night Test last year. However, the management was skeptical of playing day-night Test but ever since Sourav Ganguly took over as the President, he has played a key role in changing the mindset.
Moreover, the meeting also pondered on the possible venues for England's tour of India next year, which will be India's last engagement in the inaugural cycle of the World Test Championship. Motera Stadium, which has been renovated recently is likely to host one of the matches during that tour.
