“It’s Okay To Go For Runs” – Shardul Thakur Reacts On His Expensive Spells

0

Team India fast bowler Shardul Thakur has received a lot of flak for shelling too many runs during the recent series against New Zealand. As a result, the Men in Blues struggled to stand up as a bowling unit as the Kiwi swept the series 3-0. Reacting to the same for the very first time, Thakur has said that it' okay to go for runs as one cannot expect to be spot-on on every occasion.

It was the first time in over three decades that India have been whitewashed in three-match or more ODI series. The bowlers failed to defend the targets with the Kiwi batters taking them for runs convincingly. While Jasprit Bumrah returned wicketless in the whole series, Shardul Thakur went for too many runs which changed the momentum of the game.

Reacting to the same, Thakur expressed that a bowler cannot deliver extraordinary spells every time he goes out to bowl. He also added that it is absolutely okay to go for runs.

“It is OK to go for runs. As a bowler, you can’t end up bowling extraordinary spells every time you go out to bowl. The idea is that if I am going to go for 20 runs in a particular over, then I should be able to bring the runs down to 16, 14 or 15 in the next over. I think those five-six runs make a huge difference in the end,” said Shardul.

Furthermore, Shardul Thakur also vouched to learn from his mistakes and is hoping to bounce back strongly. He also said that the last tour has been a learning curve for him and that he will learn from here and will only get better in the future series.

“I will study my mistakes and consider them as learning experiences. It was only my first trip to New Zealand as compared to the other players. I have not played as many games for India. Currently, I am just into that phase where I am gaining experience and going forward, I will try to produce greater contributions for the team’s cause,” he concluded.
