The pandemic coronavirus has had a severe impact on human life across the globe with many sporting events called off. Individuals are kept in isolation soo after they are reporting with sore throat and fever as a precautionary measure to contain the threat. Recently, New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was also quarantined after reporting sore throat after their first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The coronavirus outbreak has so far claimed nearly 6,000 lives and infected close to 1,60,000 people across the world. The pandemic has also wreaked havoc on the sporting calendar, leading to either cancellation or postponement of events in the Olympic year. Like other sports, cricket also suffered with many series being called off.

After Australia’s Kane Richardson, Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson was also taken into isolation after the first ODI between Australia and New Zealand. The 28-year-old pacer was placed in isolation immediately after Friday’s first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground following complaints of a sore throat. He underwent tests on Saturday which returned negative, clearing the pacer.
Reacting to the incident, Ferguson while felt that it was not blown out of proportion but it was a bit over-exaggerated. However, Lockie Ferguson adhered by all the procedures, he confirmed after landing back in the country.
“No. Probably a bit over-exaggerated as to how I was,” he told reporters at the Auckland airport. “I just sort of had very, very mild cold symptoms and the procedures were as they were and followed by Tommy (Simsek, physio) and the support staff. Completely understandable. So yeah, kinda had a day in the hotel room by myself,” he added.

Notably, amid all the coronavirus threat, BCCI has postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) before calling off the India-South Africa series after the first ODI was abandoned due to rain.
