IPL 2023 [WATCH]- Rashid Khan Claims A Hattrick Against KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring affair played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 9 April 2023. While Rinku Singh sealed the deal with five sixes, Rashid Khan claimed a hattrick.

Gujarat Titans stand-in captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill looked in good touch putting pressure on KKR bowlers. Sunil Narine came into the attack dismissing Saha with a simple catch to Narayan Jagadeesan. Gill and Sai Sudharsan looked in fine touch hitting boundaries at will keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first six overs, GT scored 54 for 1.

Gill and Sai showed their class by keeping the scoreboard ticking making life tough for KKR bowlers. Narine struck again to dismiss the well-set Gill caught by Umesh Yadav. Gill and Sai added 67 runs for the 2^nd wicket. Abhinav Manohar showed some intent before Suyash Sharma produced a superb delivery to dismiss Manohar. Sai Sudharsan continued his superb form keeping the momentum with boundaries at regular intervals.

Sai completed fifty off 34 deliveries and made life tough for KKR bowlers. It was brilliant hitting by Sai and Vijay Shankar keeping the scoreboard ticking. Sai was eventually dismissed for a well-made 63 and put on 35 runs for the 4^th wicket. Vijay Shankar toyed with KKR bowling smashing them all over the park.

Shankar took the charge smashing Lockie Ferguson and then Shardul Thakur in the final over. Vijay completed his fifty off 20 deliveries. He smashed 3 sixes to help Gujarat Titans post 204 for 4. Shankar remained unbeaten at 63 off 24 balls. Vijay Shankar and Miller added 51 runs for the 5^th wicket.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz began the innings well before Mohammed Shami got the initial breakthrough dismissing Gurbaz with a superb catch by Yash Dayal. Narayan Jagadeesan also fell cheaply with a simple catch to Manahor leaving KKR in trouble.

Venetaksh and Nitish Rana provided an excellent display of batting with some brilliant hits keeping KKR alive in the match. Venetaksh Iyer came as an impact player and showed his class by hitting boundaries at will along with Nitish Rana. Srikar Bharat’s wicket kept instead of Wriddhiman Saha’s.

Venetaksh Iyer completed his fifty off just 26 deliveries and kept KKR in the hunt. Alazzari Joseph struck to dismiss Nitish Rana with a simple catch to Shami at mid-off. Iyer and Rana added 100 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Joseph struck again to dismiss well Iyer to bring back Gujarat Titans into the game. Rashid Khan produced a magical hattrick dismissing Andre Russell with a review for caught behind, then Sunil Narine provided a simple catch to substitute Jayant Yadav and then delivered brilliant delivery to get rid of Shardul Thakur in the 17^th over to tilt the match in favour of GT. Rashid Khan finished with figures of 3 for 37 after being smashed for runs.

However, Rinku Singh did the unthinkable with 5 successive sixes off Yash Dayal in the final over to KKR a famous 3-wicket win.
