Wasim Akram reiterates the “Virat Kohli” claim in response to Suryakumar Yadav’s poor performance during the IPL 2023. The Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has recently come under fire, and Pakistani legend Wasim Akram jumped to his defence.
Suryakumar Yadav has been under a lot of stress during the IPL 2023 season because of his current performance. The 32-year-old has only scored 16 runs in three games this season and was dismissed for a golden duck in Mumbai Indians’ most recent outing.
His form was particularly evident against Delhi, as Mukesh Kumar dismissed him. He could only clip the brief delivery straight to the fielder at fine leg for a catch. In addition, he struggled throughout India’s three-match ODI series against Australia, recording three golden ducks.
Following his dismissal during the IPL 2023 match between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav makes his way back to the pavilion.

Rohit Sharma and company met that goal, which Delhi had set for MI as 173 runs. In 20 overs, they got to 173/4. Rohit scored 65 runs off 45 balls to help MI win a match. Tilak Varma hit 41 off of 29 balls in the meantime.
For DC, Mukesh Kumar was in excellent bowling form and claimed two wickets. DC has initially dismissed for 172 runs in 19 point four overs, with half-centuries coming from Axar Patel and David Warner. Aside from Riley Meredith’s two wickets, MI’s Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff each bagged three dismissals.
Before the tournament, Kohli’s performance was dismal, and Akram had told Star Sports, “He is extraordinary. He is still physically fit and one of the best fielders in the Indian team and as the saying goes, “Form is temporary, but class is forever.”
He averages more than 50 across all formats, and he is still in excellent physical condition. Those are Virat Kohli. He will undoubtedly return and add runs. He will return, though I hope it won’t be against Pakistan”.
Likewise, he stood up for Suryakumar and said, “Look, everyone knows that he’s a great player. Because you typically defend the first two deliveries when you’re out of form, a batsman cannot be out of form. The form is transient and the class is enduring with Suryakumar. I realize he had issues in the One-Day matches but no worries—every batsman goes through this stage”.
With two points from three games—one victory and two losses—MI is currently ranked ninth out of a possible ten teams. They play Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming game on Sunday in Mumbai.
