Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. After DC’s fifth defeat, Shastri drops a bomb probably thinking it’s nice upstairs. Delhi Capitals suffered their fifth defeat in the IPL 2023. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri made a significant remark about Sourav Ganguly.

On Saturday, the Delhi Capitals continued their terrible streak by suffering their fifth straight defeat in the 2023 Indian Premier League. The Capitals’ batting order once again let the team down as Royal Challengers Bangalore rolled to a 23-run victory over David Warner’s team.

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, DC faced a top-order collapse after holding the hosts to a competitive score of 174/6. Since the Capitals are the only team to have won in the IPL 2023.

Concerns have been expressed about the team’s strategy. Rishabh Pant, the first-team captain of DC is not present but the team still has superstars like Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje, and Axar Patel.

Delhi Capitals are yet to open their account in IPL 2023

It’s interesting to note that Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting. Two of the game’s most successful captains are in the dugout for DC. The Capitals and their director of cricket Ganguly lost to RCB on Saturday afternoon and former India head coach Ravi Shastri showed neither of them any mercy.

As RCB were closing in on a convincing victory, Shastri said on-air, ”The issue with the Delhi Capitals right now is that when you lose four straight games. It gets extremely challenging to recover, especially given how the other teams are performing”.

There are some individuals in the dugout who are not accustomed to losing. Simon Doull, a fellow commentator with Shastri said “Ricky Ponting’s one.

David Warner has also been on the winning side and Shastri noted before making a huge jab at the former captain’s time on the board. When Ganguly served as BCCI President, Shastri coached India for the majority of that time.

“Losing isn’t the point. It is about getting smacked. Five straight losses leave you with little chance of triumph. It’s one thing to lose games that were close, but it’s not a good story when your opponent outplays you.”

Ganguly is in his second season with Delhi Capitals. He previously served as Ponting’s mentor for DC in the 2019 season and just before he was named BCCI president.
